Dr.pik Vacuum Oral Care FAQ
Can several people share the suction unit?
This device has a structure where the cleaning liquid inside the suction unit flows in one direction
constantly.
Therefore, even though several people share it, there is no risk of cross-infection.
Is the mouthpiece disposable?
No. However, it is recommended to be replaced with new one after a certain period of use
(6 months) like general toothbrush.
How is the mouthpiece managed after use?
The mouthpiece should be washed with running water and dried for storage after use.
For more perfect disinfection, put it in boiling water for 30 seconds and dry.
There is no functional problem even if it is sterilized in autoclave which is used in hospitals for
sterilizing medical appliances.
Can several people share the same mouthpiece?
The mouthpiece should be prepared individually like general toothbrush for hygiene.
Is the mouthpiece harmless to human body?
Yes, the mouthpiece is manufactured with BPS-free silicone free of cytotoxicity which has passed
for the test conducted by a certified institution.
Does user feel uncomfortable when the mouthpiece is put in the mouth?
As the mouthpiece is made of soft silicone that is not harmful to human body, it can be transformed
to a small form when it is put in or taken out of the mouth. Then you don't need to open mouth wide,
which causes no discomfort. Once the mouthpiece is placed in th mouth, it is restored to origianl
form and size via elasticity and installed in teeth and gum.
Even when the mouthpiece touches your teeth and gum during operation, there is no pain becasue it
is made of soft silicone material.
The mouthpiece is designed to be placed in the Neutral Zone where the sum of force vector of
the intraoral tissues like tongue, cheeks and lips, etc. is neutralized, and pulling force casued by
negative pressure is given to the inside of mouhtpiece. Then sealing effect on the edge can be
certainly obtained and this prevents possibility of water leak.
Even when the force plucking the mouthpiece away is applied while the device is working regardless
of user's intention, the water does not leak out in mouth.
Since this Neutral Zone Theory is already used by dentists when manufacturing dentures, implants
or teeth correction device, etc., the function has already been verified. This device is created by
applying such a theory to oral cleaning device for the first time in the world.
Is it possible to pull the cleaning liquid using negative(vacuum) pressure?
The portable suction unit which is currently in the market is already well used for sucking liquid
foreign matter remaining in the oral cavity and the airway. In addition, even with the suction used
in time of dental treatment, stagnant water and blood in the mouth are smoothly sucked without
any problem during dental care, so it is fully possible to move cleaning liquid by negative pressure.
This feasibility has been already verified through several experiments.
Who can use it effectively?
This device is good for the people who need other's help due to the difficulty in toothbrushing by
oneself because of the discomfort of using hands, such as the disabled, the old and the infirm,
and critically ill patients.
Also, it's possible for general people to use it for replacing the existing toothbrushing.
What effect can a user expect of this device?
It can remove food residue between teeth, and dental plaque by using vacuum pressure, giving an
excellent tooth brushing effect and gum massaging.
